Ultraviolet flame detector

The ultraviolet flame detector is a UV-only flame detector designed to detect fires and provide alarm signals directly from the detector while remaining immune to false alarms. It detects in the ultraviolet (UV) spectral range for optimised responsiveness.

It is fast and able to detect the ultraviolet (UV) radiation emitted by a burning substance, and is used in high-risk applications such as petrochemical plants, munitions factories and other areas where flammable or explosive liquids or solids are handled or stored.

The flame sensor uses a highly sensitive, reliable ultraviolet phototube that resists dust, corrosion and humidity. It is therefore insensitive to sunlight, dust, oil and fumes. Its standard calibration detects, at a distance of 25 metres, a flame produced by 2 kg of ethanol in a 33 cm x 33 cm container 5 cm high.
